The Bare Minimum
simpleprog does not require an account to read any of its content. You can browse the entire library of programming concepts, copy code snippets, and run live examples without giving us your name or email address. We do not want your personal data, and we do not want the liability of storing it.
What We Actually Collect
We use Umami Analytics, an open-source, privacy-focused analytics platform. It does not use cookies, does not track you across the web, and anonymizes incoming data. We get high-level metrics and you keep your privacy.
Like nearly every server on the internet, our infrastructure generates basic access logs that may contain IP addresses and user agents. These are used only to diagnose technical issues, prevent abuse, and defend against attacks, and are routinely deleted.
Course progress and quiz scores are saved only in your own browser (local storage). They never reach our servers, and clearing your browser data removes them.
When you use a tool, what you enter (a URL, domain, robots.txt or curl command) is processed to produce the result and is not stored. Tools that check a website fetch it from our server, so that site sees our server's address, not yours.
Where lesson comments are shown, they are provided by giscus and stored as GitHub Discussions. Posting a comment requires a GitHub account and is covered by GitHub's privacy policy.
Third Party Sharing
We do not sell your data. We do not rent or share your information with advertising networks or data brokers. The only time we would ever share data is if legally compelled by a valid court order.
