Perplexity has added GPT-6 Astra to its Computer product, making OpenAI's latest model available to Pro and Max subscribers for tasks that require web browsing, file interaction, and multi-step reasoning.
What the benchmark shows
Perplexity evaluated GPT-6 Astra on WANDR, a benchmark that tests models on complex, multi-step tasks involving web navigation and tool use. The model scored 0.682 at a cost of $11.98 per task, which Perplexity says is the highest score of any model it has tested.
The comparison to other models puts the result in context. GPT-6 Astra scored 13.5% higher than Fable 5.1 while costing 6.1% less per task. It scored 27.0% higher than Opus 5 at 3.3% higher cost. The cost difference against Opus 5 is small enough that the performance gain makes it the more efficient choice for tasks where accuracy matters more than the marginal price increase.
These are Perplexity's own measurements on their own benchmark, which means they reflect the specific task distribution and evaluation methodology that Perplexity uses. Other benchmarks may produce different rankings. But for tasks that match WANDR's profile, complex web-based workflows requiring multiple tool calls and reasoning steps, the numbers suggest GPT-6 Astra is competitive with or better than the alternatives at similar or lower cost.
What Perplexity Computer actually does
Perplexity Computer is the company's product for tasks that go beyond simple question answering. It gives the model access to a browser, files, and other tools, letting it navigate websites, fill out forms, process documents, and execute multi-step workflows. GPT-6 Astra joins the set of models available for these tasks, alongside Perplexity's own models and other third-party options.
For developers and teams evaluating which model to use for agentic tasks, the availability of GPT-6 Astra through Perplexity provides another data point. The WANDR benchmark score suggests the model handles complex, tool-using workflows well. The cost per task provides a baseline for budgeting against other options.
The model is available now for Pro and Max subscribers. Perplexity has not announced availability for lower-tier plans or API access outside the Computer product.
